How to Start a Successful Podcast as a Nutritionist

(Even if you feel you're not 'expert' enough, have NOTHING to say and no clue where to start)

This is perfect for you if:

  • You know that your followers love listening to podcasts

  • You've heard that podcasts are the future but you feel intimidated by the tech set-up

  • You feel like you have no time for creating content or posting on social media but you wish you could provide free information for your audience

  • You feel like the blogs you're writing get read by NO ONE and wish there was a different way to get your wisdom out into the wider world

  • You have so much knowledge in your head that you're bursting to share with the world...but you don't know how

  • You think there isn't much point because ChatGPT is going to take over the world anyway (I'll explain why ChatGPT can be a friend rather than a foe!)

What if...

... you could come up with fresh, new content regularly that your audience immediately resonate with?

... you were never stuck for ideas for what to say to your audience?

... you could create meaningful connections with your followers so they build a rapport with you - before they even get on a discovery call with you?

... you could get yourself more widely known and onto other people's platform as an expert?

An Intro to Podcasting for Nutritionists

You could just Google this...

But let's face it – you either have Googled it and were intimidated by the tech and the ins and outs of what to do or you just don't think you have enough to say to your audience so don't see the point of starting.

I know how you feel – I spent 6 months thinking about starting a podcast before actually Googling it. And then I got so overwhelmed by all the decisions I thought I needed to make and all the things I thought I needed to do/setup/buy first that it was another 3 months before I took the plunge.

I'm making this easier for you. I'm going to help you go from 'I'm thinking about it' to 'This could happen' to 'I've done it!'

During our two hours together I'll help you...

  • Come up with enough episode ideas to cover you for the first 6 episodes

  • Decide on a format, a name and frequency and purpose

  • Cut through the tech confusion and explain why I use what I use

  • Choose your equipment - or decide not to buy any!

I'm not an expert on marketing, podcasting or content creation. But I am a nutritionist who got so confused by all the advice from marketers, podcasters and content creators that I made the world wait before getting my knowledge out into the world. I don't want that for you!

Using my personal experience starting my podcast, through the ups and downs along the way - and the consistent downloads, despite taking almost a year off for maternity leave - I am going to help you get out of your head and into the world with all the brilliant knowledge on your podcast.

Hi I'm Tasha

I launched my podcast for exhausted mums during the first lockdown, after thinking about it for nearly a year. I had no idea whether I had it in me to post something every week - in fact I was pretty sure I'd run out of ideas within a few months. 3 years, 100 episodes and over 10,000 downloads later I know for sure I have A LOT to say – and I can't see it ending!

I've spoken to many other nutritionists who say 'I wish I had your confidence to launch a podcast! I just don't think I have enough to say that people would want to hear.'

I'm here to help you get the incredible knowledge you have out of your head and into your recording studio (AKA your bedroom if you're anything like me!) so you can share your expertise with the wider world.

Starting a podcast has been one of the best business decisions I ever made - it's a low cost, high impact way to reach your audience, and it's an amazing way to connect with others in your industry and build a referral network in a completely authentic, non-sleazy way.

          Frequently asked questions

All the As to your Qs here...

I can't make the dates, when will you run it again?

Honestly, I don't know. Possibly never. I'm running this after being asked about starting a podcast so many times I decided to just formalise it! I'm first and foremost a nutritionist, not a marketing guru or business coach so this is not a main focus for me! I just happen to know how to start a podcast and enjoy helping people out...

          Will there be a replay?

Yes, the lessons will be run live at 1pm each day but the replays will be available soon after. You'll have access indefinitely, so long as I continue running my business!

          How much does it cost?

          It's £30 for the course.

If you’re on parental leave, have just graduated, in your first year of business or just can’t afford to pay full price right now — there’s a lower, no-questions-asked price of £15 for the course. Just email me on tasha@tashadcruz.com and I'll send you the discount code.

I really don't think I have enough to talk about on a podcast. Should I still come?

Yes... because you're obviously THINKING about a podcast, even if you don't think you've got enough to say! There are so many different things you can put on a podcast - I regularly do interviews with other experts and I recently published a guided relaxation that was hugely popular. You can do episodes that are 1 hour long of 3 minutes long - both have their merit! So even if you think you don't have it in you, come along and surprise yourself - in the first session we will come up with enough ideas to fill your first few episodes.

Isn't podcasting time-consuming? I don't have enough time for much in my business!

I know how you feel! I work 2.5 days a week around childcare so I know what it's like to feel busy all the time. Like anything new, the first few times you do it it will take a while to make sure you've got everything you need and done it right. But soon it becomes like clockwork. The skill comes in minimising your writing time - and that comes with practice and a little know-how on what to include (and a little AI magic to get rid of ums and ahs... so you sound like you know what you're talking about even without a word perfect script)

Why is it so cheap? Are you going to upsell me something?

Nah, I told you - this isn't my main gig! I genuinely just want to help my nutrition colleagues who keep asking me how to set up a podcast. I truly believe that podcasts are THE BEST way to get expertise and knowledge out - and the more people get used to listening to podcasts for knowledge the better.

You may have seen courses for starting a podcast for £600 upwards - I genuinely can't think what you need to know about starting a podcast that would warrant that sort of cost (unless you're planning to monetise it directly - in which case I'm not your gal!).

I don't have anything to upsell after BUT if there is enough interest to form a group, I might consider a 1-week intensive to get the tech nailed and the podcast published with accountability.

I have more questions, how do I get in touch?

Email me on tasha@tashadcruz.com or DM on Instagram with all your questions and I'll be happy to answer them!

          I haven't graduated yet / I've only just graduated / I don't think I know enough yet / I don't have a niche

I reckon this is the perfect time to start a podcast for you. Remember, you are in total control of the content so you get to choose what you put in it. It's a brilliant way to start showing your personality, building your mailing list and getting your interest and expertise out there. You can talk about how you came to start training as a nutritionist, what your struggles were that led you down this route, your favourite way to stay healthy in an ultra-processed world - honestly, anything goes in a podcast!
